200g puff pastry
6 beef sausages
1 sliced of bread, grated into breadcrumbs
Pinch of salt, pepper and mixed herbs
1 beaten egg
Some pain flour for dusting
6 Maris Piper potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
Knob of butter
2 tbspns milk
Small tin of baked beans
Remove the sausage meat from the skins and squeeze into a large mixing bowl
Add the breadcrumbs, some salt, pepper and the mixed herbs
Using your hand combine the mixture
Dust the worktop with the flour and roll out the pastry to 1cm thick
Cut the pastry in half
Half the sausage mix and then place down the centre of each piece of pastry
Then cover the pastry over the meat, as though tucking it in
With a pastry brush, cover the pastry with the beaten egg and then cut each section into 5-6 pieces, creating your sausage rolls.
Pop into the oven and bake at 180 for 20-25 minutes, until the meat is cooked through and the pastry is golden.
Whilst the sausage rolls are cooking, pop the potatoes into a pot of boiling water and cook until tender.
Once the potatoes are ready, drain and then mash together with the butter and milk
Allow the potatoes and sausage rolls to cool to room temp and then plate 2-3 sausage rolls, 2 spoons of potatoes and 3 spoons of beans into your dog’s bowl and serve.
This will make 4-5 portions depending on the size of your dog and will keep in the fridge for 5 days. The sausage rolls can also be frozen.
